Curriculum Vitae

Current and former academic positions 
Since 1 September 2017, I am Professor of Politics & Governance at Utrecht University School of Governance (USG). In this capacity, I am co-chairing USG’s Public Governance group, am a member of USG’s research board and the program director of the two-year master program Research in Public Administration and Organisational Science. Between 2019-2021, I served as a member and (technical) chair of USG’s Executive Board.

Before joining Utrecht University, I was a Professor in Political Decision-Making at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. There, I served as the director of research of that department, as Head of Studies Politics of the BSc program Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE). I was also a member of the management team of the PPE program’s John Stuart Mill College. Prior to my appointment as full professor, I have been Assistant and Associate Professor in Comparative Politics and PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

Other executive positions & memberships (selection)
I am an elected member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW);  senior member of the Netherlands Institute of Governance, of which I am also a board member;  and member of the Advisory Board of Compasss. I am also former appointed member of the Social Sciences Council of the Royal Dutch Academy of Arts & Sciences (KNAW) (2017-2022);  former board member of the Dutch Association of Political Science (2009-2015);  and was one of senior associate editors of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Political Decisionmaking, which is part of the Oxford Research Encyclopedia Politics’ series that appeared in print in 2021. I am also an alumna of the Young Academy (De Jonge Akademie) of the KNAW.
